intrinsic violence in life

i’m re-reading thomas merton’s “faith and violence” from 1968. his biting social commentary is as insightful now as it was then– especially with the growing movement of black lives matter. here is a gem from his “theology of resistance”

in the upcoming days, i hope to unearth some new wisdom from this american great writer, holy monk thomas merton. if you live in the usa and have never read any merton, treat yourself! if you want some suggestions, please email me.

let us pray:

Lord, let your Spirit shape us to be a humble people who long for peace, justice and the integrity of all creation. may the intercession of thomas merton challenge and lead us through our actions and hearts to Your holy will.
