as we are in the last days of advent, i am sad. i think that the season of advent fits well with the covid pandemic. lent too. i still think that the image from my last post of “punching santa” still applies. ( https://frarthurcmf.wordpress.com/2020/12/20/on-the-verge-of-punching-santa/ ) we must continue to wait…

so, i am happily accepting the salutation “happy holidays” along with merry christmas!
i saw a funny facebook post that essentially said, “if you claimed ‘all lives matter’ instead of ‘black lives matter’, then you better say ‘happy holidays’ instead of ‘merry christmas!'” hanukkah and kwanzaa are important too
for us catholics, christmas is a liturgical season. the final day of the season is the celebration of the baptism of the Lord– this year on january 10th.
i hope that the upcoming feast days within christmas–holy family, holy innocents, thomas becket, elizabeth ann seton, mary mother of God, epiphany– renew all of us. i am hoping for a change of heart with the gift of the WORD.MADE.FLESH
Indeed! Merry Christmas and happy holidays, Fr. Art!
