Psalm 117

whenever psalm 117 comes up in the liturgy of the hours, i smile. i like the fact that in two sentences, the heart of prayer shines light on the primacy of God.

praise-praise-praise. to praise the Lord focuses us on God and acknowledges the Lord in our lives; implicit is a thankfulness for God’s presence

i do not think that we can overstate the importance of God’s covenantal love for us. God’s action is first and primary in our relationship. without this grace, we can do nothing. God’s faithfulness in light of our unfaithfulness is our strength.

so, praise the Lord and thank you God for your strong and faithful love!
