it is october 24th: the feast of st anthony claret, the founder of the claretian missionaries. but since it is sunday, liturgically we will hear the reading for the 30th sunday of ordinary time not the scriptures for st anthony. the last time october 24th was bumped off because of sunday was in 2010. i was working at sacred heart in prescott and so at the three mass that i had there, i was able to talk about st anthony claret to many more people than on a regular weekday mass.
today, i have no masses in a parish so i will zoom into our lady of fatima parish in perth amboy.
last year’s post for st anthony’s feast still holds true for me: https://frarthurcmf.wordpress.com/2020/10/24/the-fire-of-st-anthony-claret/

a couple of months ago, we claretians had our general chapter that has set sail our vision and direction for the upcoming six years. the theme: rooted in christ; audacious in mission. st anthony, pray that we may have the courage to walk this lofty path of being rooted and audacious.
let us pray:
St. Anthony Mary Claret, you founded your religious congregation ‘Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary’, in order to bring others into the good works you had already begun. You also helped establish a congregation for nuns. Your religious orders have flourished, and today they continue to spread the Good News throughout the world.
you remained a faithful servant to God throughout your life. You faced many trials and tribulations in serving the Lord. You had to flee in exile because of your passion for saving souls. However, you never wavered in your faithfulness to God. Your legacy of holiness lives on in the Church today and in the religious orders you established that now serve the humanity around the world. Pray for me, that I may faithfully carry out whatever tasks God has planned for me.
st anthony, pray for me, that I may always seek to work for the good of the entire Body of Christ.; st anthony pray for the congregation of sons of the immaculate heart of the blessed virgin mary; st anthony, pray for our country; st anthony pray for our world.

So very grateful for our Clarition fathers in our Parish and especially Fr Fred in Chino who continues to do 4 masses a month in care homes in Prescott despite being the only priest in his growing parish.
He continues to be gracious with his time and trust the legion of Mary’s driving 🤪.
We had our festival yesterday and it was a fun event with Sr. Ann dancing with her kiddos and a cake walk, gsmes ,food and lots of $ raised for the school.
