from john chapter one:
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
these words always invoke an emotional response in me
All things came to be through him,
and without him nothing came to be.
What came to be through him was life,
and this life was the light of the human race
and the climax
And the Word became flesh
and made his dwelling among us,
and we saw his glory,
the glory as of the Father’s only Son,
full of grace and truth
add the song from philippians two:
Christ Jesus, Who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God something to be exploited.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
coming in human likeness;
and found human in appearance,
he humbled himself,
becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
this is what makes the birth of jesus powerful. the key is self-giving and vulnerability. God becomes human so that we make become like God. the reason is love.
Thank you, Fr. Arthur for a beautiful reflection. May you have a blessed and peaceful Christmas.
